Meet the kids

Lylah, Yvonne, and Omar need a forever family. They hope to find a supportive, patient, and attentive adoptive family to share their lives and guide them.

Lylah, age 9, is a budding chef who loves to experiment in the kitchen. When she’s not cooking, she enjoys catching up on some well-deserved rest. She’s described as creative, kind, and funny, always bringing joy to those around her.

Omar, 11 years old, is an athletic and polite kid with a passion for basketball. His friendly and respectful nature makes him a wonderful brother and friend. He’s the kind of person who can bring a smile to anyone’s face.

Yvonne, the eldest at 13, is both caring and adventurous. She loves swimming and has a keen interest in sports. Her adventurous spirit is matched by her love for ramen, and she’s known for her intelligence and thoughtful nature.

These three siblings are looking for a loving home where they can continue to grow and thrive together. Dontez (May 2013) is a sweet and outgoing kid who enjoys playing video games, coloring, drawing, playing football and hanging out with his friends. He would like to travel and go on adventures someday. While Dontez has been described as a “quick learner” when it comes to some things, school can be challenging due to a difficulty focusing. Dontez is utilizing the academic support available and is working hard to catch up. Dontez would benefit from a nurturing adoptive family that would provide him with the structure he needs. James (b. August 2008) is a friendly, personable, and respectful teen – qualities that make him a potential good friend and often a pleasure to be around. James tries to make the most of his life and he is a self-proclaimed expert in all things Pokémon. Like many teens, he enjoys being on his phone. James enjoys playing video games such as Fortnight and Minecraft. He also enjoys sports and his favorite is basketball. James’s favorite subject in school is math. James receives therapeutic services and is learning how to express his emotions in more appropriate and positive ways. James is quite creative when it comes to robotics and has made a robot in the past made of mainly found items. When he gets older, James would like to be a YouTuber and/or a robotics teacher.

James hopes his future adoptive family will be friendly and smart and will like to have fun. James would benefit from a forever family’s patient guidance and support as he navigates life’s decisions. James thinks it would be nice to have siblings in his adoptive family, and of course having some fellow ‘gamers’ in the family would be icing on the cake for James! Meet Kieley (b. October 2012), a warm and engaging youth with a quick smile and a good sense of humor. Kieley likes to have fun, which for Kieley can include some dancing and singing. Kieley likes singing so much that she is giving some thought to joining a choir where she could develop her vocal skills and become a better singer. Kieley also enjoys doing cheer and would like to join a cheer team in the future. When it comes to how to spend some downtime, Kieley enjoys getting her hair and nails done.
Kieley enjoys going to school where she gets to interact with her friends. She is getting assistance from the school to help her improve her academic progress in the areas of need. Kieley is able to hold her own in conversations and is comfortable speaking to her strengths as well as her challenges. Kieley can picture herself as part of an active and supportive family – perhaps even one with a large extended family where she might have cousins and whatnot. Meet Jayvon (b. in November 2010), an active youngster who enjoys outdoor riding his bike and skateboarding. Due to the many challenges he has faced, Javon struggles in dealing with his feelings and needs. He has, however, made improvements and has been working hard at finding ways to express himself and channel his energy in positive ways.

Jayvon has a great sense of humor, he is funny, athletic and smart. Jayvon is longing for a connection and a sense of belonging that can come through by being adopted. Bernarda (b. March 2011) is a respectful and caring youth with a big heart who advocates for herself and others. Bernarda is pretty good at expressing herself and communicating her thoughts and feelings openly. Bernarda loves music and she is learning to play the piano and violin. Bernarda likes to work out and prefers to eat home-cooked meals over fast food. Bernarda is looking for an adoptive family that would encourage and support healthy living. Bernarda is learning to utilize better coping skills when she feels upset. Bernarda would like to go to college, and it is also important to Bernarda that she is able to maintain relationships with her siblings. Nevaeh and Juan are a dynamic sibling duo who are close in age and who, despite their differences, share a durable bond!

Nevaeh (b. 5-2011) is a lively one with equal parts charm and sass. Nevaeh’s interests include getting her nails done, experimenting with make-up, and being with her friends. Disneyland has a special place in her heart and she lights up with the magic and excitement of the park. Nevaeh is working on how she responds when things do not go her way and she benefits from extra help when it comes to her education.

Juan (b. 4-2012) is an agreeable boy whose interests lean towards the more hands-on and adventurous side. Skateboarding and building Legos show his active and creative spirit. Basketball is Juan’s favorite sport, and science best captures his imagination in the classroom. Juan is working on decreasing his tendencies to avoid eye contact and to isolate himself from others.
Nevaeh and Juan would do best with a forever family that is supportive of their individual strengths and patient with their individual challenges while also recognizing the importance of their bond and of being raised together. Marcos is a warrior by nature! Marcos was born prematurely in October of 2010 at 26 weeks gestation. He has dealt with multiple complex medical issues that require a high degree of specialized care and feedings through a gastrostomy tube (G-tube). Marcos is benefitting from Regional Center Services. Despite Marcos’ many medical and developmental challenges, he is a loving boy with a great deal of potential.

Marcos has a positive personality and is comfortable around people who are familiar to him. He really enjoys watching movies and listening to music on his iPad. He will regularly hum his favorite songs and move to the beat of the music. He expresses himself by making eye contact and making head movements. Marcos uses a walker and leg braces for support while walking and exploring his surroundings.

Anthony (b. February 2018) is a bundle of energy! He loves playing with toy cars and his LEGO Ninjago toys. Anthony is outgoing and energetic but can also be entertained playing video games on any device.

Bella (b. February 2019) may be the younger of this pair but is an equally spirited companion to Anthony. Bella has a cheerful demeanor, loves all things pink and enjoys watching cartoons. Her current favorite toys include unicorns and Barbies.

Together, Anthony and Bella are an active and outgoing sibling set who thrive on adventure! They enjoy playing outside, exploring new activities, and spending time together, whether it’s building with blocks or watching their favorite shows. William enjoys activities that a younger child would like such as splashing around in a pool or playing on the swings. William’s favorite show to watch on TV is “Nicky, Ricky, Dicky, and Dawn” and he also enjoys playing video games. He has a healthy appetite and eats all of his meals – preferring cereal in the mornings and, if given the option to eat out, McDonald’s any other time of day.

At school, William gets Specialized Academic Instruction (SAI) which helps him a lot. William is also getting assistance with improving communication, self-care, safety and self-direction skills. William is non-verbal and communicates primarily thru an app on his iPad, and he understands both English and Spanish.
William is a sweet child who gets along with his peers. While he may need some help from time to time with daily living activities throughout his life, with the right family by his side William will no doubt continue to make developmental progress and achieve new goals!
